# The 30-day lowest price is not necessarily a good price The label shows the lowest price from the 30 days before the reduction, but it does not guarantee that the promotion is better than the product’s typical price or that the discount is genuine. > Updated: 2026-10-28 · Damian Jabłoński, Łowca (lowca-okazji.com) · https://lowca-okazji.com/en/poradnik/lowest-price-in-30-days-is-it-a-good-price ## What the 30-day lowest price means The 30-day lowest price shows the lowest price at which a store offered a product in its range during the 30 days before the reduction. The label helps assess whether the current price has actually fallen, but it does not guarantee that the promotion is better than the product’s typical price or that the discount is genuine. When presenting a price reduction, a store should compare it with the lowest price that applied to its offer during this period. That is why a label may show several values: the current price, the price before the reduction and the 30-day lowest price. Each value describes a different part of the price history. This label applies to the price used by a specific seller. It does not automatically show prices from other stores, used offers or prices of similar models. It also does not answer the question of whether the product is worth its current price. ## What the price from the last 30 days does not tell you The price from the last 30 days does not show how much the product cost earlier. It does not include the entire sales history and does not say whether the current price is typical for the market. It also does not show whether a similar product can be found cheaper from another seller. A store may keep a price for 30 days even if it is higher than prices found elsewhere. A later reduction will then be calculated from that price, even if the product is still not particularly cheap after the reduction. For example, the label may confirm that the price has fallen compared with the lowest price in that store. It does not confirm that the price has fallen compared with the typical market price. These are two different assessments. ## How a price increase before a promotion works The simple mechanism looks like this: 1. The store sells the product at a lower price. 2. It then raises the price and keeps it for at least 31 days. 3. After that time, it reduces the price and presents it as a promotion. In this case, the 30-day lowest price may already be the increased price that applied before the promotion. The label may therefore correctly describe the last 30 days, while the offer may still be poor compared with prices from before that period or with prices from other sellers. This does not mean that every promotion is prepared this way. It is worth remembering, however, that checking one period does not replace comparing the entire offer. The discount itself may look attractive only because the reference point is high. ## How to check whether a promotion is a genuine bargain Assessing a promotion can involve three steps: 1. **Check the 30-day lowest price.** Compare it with the current price and see whether the reduction is real rather than merely presented as a large percentage. 2. **Look for older prices.** The 30-day history does not show increases from before that period. Saved offers, archived price comparisons and personal notes from earlier purchases may help. 3. **Compare the typical market price.** Check how much the same model or a comparable product costs from other sellers. Only then can you see whether the promotion is favorable compared with the entire market. It is worth comparing exactly the same variant. Capacity, size, generation, equipment, product condition, warranty and delivery cost can change the real value of an offer. The lowest price of a similar but different model is not always the right point of reference. For used purchases, also check the description, photos, product history and the seller’s credibility. The price alone does not confirm the item’s condition or the safety of the transaction. ## The typical market price says more than the discount alone A discount shows the difference between two prices. The typical market price shows how much similar offers actually cost in several places. It is a better point of reference when the goal is to find a favorable offer rather than merely confirm that the price has fallen. Łowca searches for offers on OLX, Otomoto, Otomoto (parts), Allegro Lokalnie, Vinted, Otodom and Sprzedajemy. For a specific item, it calculates the typical market price and can send an email when it finds an offer clearly below that price. This makes it possible to compare a store promotion with offers from the classified-ad market. Łowca combines duplicates, so the same listing posted on several monitored services is reported once. It also marks higher-risk offers and moves them to a separate “check carefully” section. This does not replace independently verifying the listing. The service operates exclusively on the Polish market. It monitors OLX, Otomoto, Otomoto (parts), Allegro Lokalnie, Vinted, Otodom and Sprzedajemy. Łowca can also be useful before making a purchase when no model has been selected yet. Based on a description of the needs, it can recommend a specific model and then monitor new listings. It is worth remembering, however, that an alert concerns listings that appeared after the observation was created. ## When Łowca is not needed There is no need to create an account or use an additional tool to check one promotion. It is enough to compare the 30-day lowest price, older prices and current offers from several sellers. Łowca makes more sense when the search lasts longer, the product appears on different services or new offers need to be monitored without checking websites manually. One account allows up to 10 observations at the same time. Creating an observation and scanning the market cost 0 points. There is no subscription. A delivered alert costs 20 points, regardless of the number of monitored services. The first search can be performed without an account, so the tool can first be tested with a single query. Łowca is not needed when the product’s price is easy to verify in several stores, the purchase is going to happen immediately or the offer is available from only one seller. The tool helps compare the market and wait for new listings, but it does not guarantee that an offer will be found or that it will be safe. ## Where to report a suspicious promotion Concerns about the way a price is presented can be reported to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. A municipal or county consumer ombudsman can also provide assistance. When submitting a report, it is worth keeping screenshots, the date, the product name, visible prices and information about the promotion terms. ## Frequently asked questions ### What does the 30-day lowest price mean? The 30-day lowest price is the lowest price at which a store offered a given product during the 30 days before the reduction. The label does not show the typical price across the entire market. ### Can a store raise the price before a promotion? A store can change the product’s price, but an earlier increase does not make the later offer favorable. A price increased at least 31 days before the reduction can become the reference point for the label covering the last 30 days. ### Is the 30-day lowest price a good price? Not always. The 30-day lowest price describes the price history at a specific seller, but it does not show how much the same product costs across the entire market. ### Is a reduction calculated from the 30-day price always genuine? Not always. The label may correctly show the 30-day lowest price, while the current offer may still be poor compared with older prices or the typical market price. ### How can I check whether a Black Friday promotion is worthwhile? Compare the current price with the 30-day lowest price, check older prices and compare the offer with typical prices for the same model on the market. The discount percentage alone is not enough to assess whether the offer is worthwhile. ### Where can I report a false promotion? Concerns about price presentation can be reported to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection or to a municipal or county consumer ombudsman. It is worth including screenshots, the date and details of the promotion. ### How can I check the typical market price of a product? Compare current offers for the same model on several services, taking condition, variant, equipment and delivery into account. Łowca can search OLX, Otomoto, Otomoto (parts), Allegro Lokalnie, Vinted, Otodom and Sprzedajemy and calculate the typical price for a specific item. --- Łowca monitors publicly available listings.
