Otomoto is a Polish automotive marketplace, but it is not the only one. A significant share of private listings also appears on OLX, and some appear there only.

Łowca monitors both at the same time and sends an email when a car appears at a price clearly below the typical price for that model and year.

One reference price for two marketplaces

Separate notifications from two marketplaces create two streams of listings and do not answer the question of whether the price is good.

How the typical price for a model and year is calculated

Łowca collects current listings for a specific model-plus-year pair from monitored marketplaces, removes duplicates and rejects extreme values, both absurdly low ones and high ones detached from the market.

What remains forms a range containing most fair offers. Each new offer is assessed against this range, and only a clear downward deviation triggers an alert.

That is why an alert does not arrive for every new listing, but only for those that genuinely stand out from the market.

What to look for in an Otomoto listing

Automotive listings can be extensive, but not everything important is included in the description:

• whether the photos show the whole car rather than three views from one side,
• whether the year matches the model generation given in the title,
• whether the mileage fits the year and the condition of the interior shown in the photos,
• whether the seller writes about the service history.

When Otomoto alone is entirely enough

If you are looking for a specific car without time pressure and have an hour a week to review listings, Otomoto's built-in filters will do the job. It is a good marketplace, and there is no reason to pay for anything.

The advantage of an alert appears when you are looking for a rarer configuration, when good examples sell within one day, or when you want to monitor Otomoto and OLX at the same time without reading two streams of listings.
