OLX does not send notifications — what to check

The problem is usually with your inbox or filters, not the service itself. The order in which you check things matters.

The saved search worked and then stopped — or it never started working. Before assuming that something is broken, go through this list in order, starting with the most common causes.

1. Your mailbox

Start here because this is the most common reason.

Check your spam folder and Gmail tabs such as "Promotions" or "Notifications". Mass messages regularly end up there instead of in your main inbox.

If you find them, add the sender's address to your contacts and mark the message as "not spam". Otherwise, the next ones will end up there too.

Also check whether your mailbox is full and whether you have a rule that automatically archives messages from classified-ad services. Rules set up a long time ago can come back to cause problems.

2. The email address on your account

Log in and check whether the address on your account is current and confirmed. An unconfirmed address is a common reason for silence, especially after changing your email address.

3. Notification settings

In your account settings, check whether consent for email notifications is enabled. It can be disabled when privacy policy changes are made or by accidentally clicking "unsubscribe" in the footer of an earlier message.

One click on an unsubscribe link usually disables the entire message category, not just that one message.

4. The saved search itself

Check the list of saved searches to make sure yours is still there and active.

Open it and see how many results it returns now. If there are none, the filters are too narrow and no notifications are arriving because there is nothing to notify you about. This most often happens when you combine a narrow price range, a small radius from the city, and a specific model.

Loosen one criterion and check again.

5. The app and your phone

If you rely on phone notifications, check the app's permissions in your system settings, the battery-saving mode for that app, and whether the app is up to date. Aggressive power saving suspends background notifications and is one of the most frequently overlooked causes.

6. If none of the above helps

Delete the saved search and create it again. This solves some cases without having to find the cause. If that does not help either, report the issue to the service's support team.

When notifications work but are useless

This is a separate problem and more common than an outage. Messages arrive, but there are so many that you stop opening them.

A notification about a new listing tells you that something has appeared. It does not tell you whether the price is good. In a popular category, this can mean dozens of messages a day, with perhaps one worth looking at per week. After two weeks, nobody reads them anymore.

Before trying anything else, narrow the search itself: choose a specific model instead of a category, set a realistic price range, and select one city. In many cases, this is enough and costs nothing.

A price-based alternative

Why am I not receiving notifications from my saved search?

The most common causes are messages going to spam or the "Promotions" tab, an unconfirmed email address on the account, disabled notification consent, or filters that are too narrow and return no results.

How can I check whether the problem is with the filters?

Open the saved search and see how many results it returns now. Zero results mean there is nothing to notify you about. Loosen one criterion and check again.

Notifications go to spam. What should I do?

Mark the message as "not spam" and add the sender's address to your contacts. Otherwise, the next ones will end up there too.

I am not receiving notifications on my phone, although email works.

Check the app's permissions in your system settings, disable aggressive battery saving for it, and update the app.
