It is calculated by rejecting extremes on both sides: mistakes in the description, listings with an absurdly high “price negotiable,” offers from dealers with a warranty, and suspiciously cheap listings. What remains reflects the real market.
A bargain is an offer clearly below the lower limit of this range — where “clearly” means that the difference cannot be explained by normal price variation.
How to Check the Price in Fifteen Minutes
You can do this manually, and for a single purchase it is entirely sufficient.
Enter the exact model name in the OLX search engine, not just the category. Set the same condition and the same city or province. Review twenty listings and write down the prices, excluding those that stand out in either direction.
Then repeat the process on a second service: Allegro Lokalnie for electronics, Otomoto for cars, or Otodom for apartments. Prices can differ between portals, and only both views together provide the full picture.
Write down the range. From that point on, you can assess each new listing in a few seconds.
What to Watch for When Comparing Prices
Several factors can distort the picture.
- The same model in different configurations. With laptops and phones, memory and storage can change the price more than expected.
- “Price negotiable” listings. A seller who intentionally lists at a higher price to leave room for negotiation inflates the range.
- Dealer listings. A price that includes a warranty and an invoice is not the same as a price from a private seller.
- The age of the listing. Something that has been listed for three months is evidence of a price that is too high, not of the market price.
- The season. Bicycles cost differently in spring, and winter tires cost differently outside the season.

Fifteen minutes for one purchase is acceptable. Fifteen minutes a day for two months, while tracking three items at once, is not.
